Desktop notifications from the apps or websites can be useful at several times like they show previews of email, match scores, timely content that your favorite website posted etc, letting you take a quick glance at updates. But not all desktop notifications are wanted, sometimes it includes spam and lots of unwanted advertisements which can annoy you. How to Turn Off Desktop Notifications in Chrome

By default, Chrome is set to ask when a site wants to deliver notifications. Chrome can turn off desktop notifications to disable alerts from an individual site or from the entire Internet. Here is how,

Method 1: Turn Off Notifications by Google Chrome Setting Tab

Step 1: Open Google Chrome on your computer.

Step 2: At the top right corner, click the three dots for menu and then click ‘Settings‘.

Step 3: Now, you will get a lot of options and one search bar at the top side.

Step 4: Just tap on the search field and type ‘notifications’ and you will get something like this.

Step 5: Click on Content setting and open it.

Step 6: Click ‘Notifications’. 

Step 7: Now you can choose to block or allow notifications:

  • Block all: Turn off Ask before sending.
  • Block a site: Next to ‘Block’, click Add. Enter the site and click Add.
  • Allow a site: Next to ‘Allow’, click Add. Enter the site and click Add.

That’s it. Block will stop the site sending you notifications as well as it’ll also stop asking you to sign up for them, while Allow will give them permission to send notifications next time you visit that site.

Note: If you’re browsing in Incognito mode, you won’t get notifications.

Method 2: Turn Off Notifications by Visiting Particular Website Page

Step 1: When you get any notification from any website, just click on it and you will be redirected to the website page.

Step 2: Now, just look at the URL address bar. You will get Secure or Not Secure here.

Step 3: Just click on the option you have in URL address bar. You will get an option like Notifications.

Step 4: Just change Allot to Block or Ask. If you block notifications, you will not get any notifications in future from the same website. And, if you click on Ask, it will ask you to send notifications again when you visit the same website in future.
